Frankie Takes On: Life After College

Or: A Processing of Surprisingly Complex Emotions

Attach my feet to the path I beat.

There’s something oddly surreal about holding some preserved artifact from three years ago. Bright, young faces, looking out of the pages, brimming with hope for a brighter tomorrow. Short write-ups that all sound the same, yet are supposed to convey some sort of unique personality trait for all of those faces. Vivid flashbacks of all the petty, life-threatening concerns you were so burdened with all those years ago.

I just got my college yearbook.

All of a sudden, taking this trip down memory lane doesn’t sound quite as fun as I’d hoped it’d be.

Frankie Takes On: The State of My Face

Or: Chewing the Other Cheek


There’s a growing sore on the inside of my left cheek and I suspect it’s because I bit it in my sleep last night. Legend says that we bite our cheeks when we’re anxious and burdened with worries.

Actually, that isn’t a legend, my dentist told me that.

But there’s an ugly bruise inside my mouth and nobody’s having fun, least of all myself, especially since I can’t eat anything without wanting to call the hospital to amputate the thing so it stops hurting so much.
